We work to ensure a better juror environment and wider public participation.

We understand that summons for jury duty raises concerns about how a juror will be able to fit the civic obligation of jury duty into his or her fast-paced life.  With this in mind, the Jury Duty Committee was formed to make recommendations on how to improve the jury duty system. Moreover, we understand that families, friends, employers and co-workers are affected by a juror’s service.  Thus, the Jury Duty Committee was committed to ensure a better environment for the citizens of Baltimore City, as well as increase the number of individuals who respond to their jury summons and serve their community.

Representatives from the Judiciary, the Clerk’s Office, the Office of the Public Defender, the Baltimore City Police Department, and the staff of the CJCC worked to accomplish a myriad of tasks.  They worked with the Mayor’s Office to establish a Juror Appreciation Week.  They also obtained discount parking and discount lunches at local establishments for those serving their duty.  Also, in an increasingly technological world, Jury Pool Technology has been researched an implemented in an ongoing manner.
